“The efforts the winners have put into creating and maintaining the attractiveness of their properties is truly appreciated. The Curb Appeal Awards program was established to recognize these companies for the efforts they make in beautifying their properties,” CAN DO President Kevin O’Donnell said.

CAN DO Board Member Lonnie Polli, co-chair of the Curb Appeal Awards Subcommittee, said, “It’s an honor to have companies in our area that truly care about the everyday representation they are making to their employees and to the Greater Hazleton community. Their actions promote the betterment of the parks and the overall business climate in the Hazleton area, as these companies can take pride in what they have accomplished.”

The Curb Appeal Award plaques were presented in two categories: companies with 1 to 75 employees in their local facility and companies with more than 75 employees.

Winners in the 1-to-75-employee category are: 5th Gear, Humboldt Industrial Park; IMR Limited, Valmont Industrial Park; High Mountain Hardware, Inc., McAdoo Industrial Park; and JPC Equestrian, Inc., CAN DO Corporate Center.

In an expansion of the program, two new categories were developed for commercial properties. The winner in the Commercial Services category is Service Electric Cablevision, Inc. in Humboldt Industrial Park and the winner in the Commercial – Hotels, Restaurants, Retail category is Residence Inn by Marriott in Humboldt Station.

First Quality Nonwovens was named the overall winner and received the top award in the program.

“The First Quality Nonwovens property is a standout when it comes to curb appeal. The landscaping and maintenance combine to make a very attractive property in Humboldt Industrial Park. That’s why First Quality earned the overall award in this year’s Curb Appeal Awards program,” said Curb Appeal Co-Chair Gary Danish.

Nominations for the 2012 Curb Appeal Awards will be sought late next summer, and committee members encouraged companies in CAN DO’s industrial parks to begin considering an entry now.

“We are eager to welcome more companies to the ranks of our Curb Appeal winners and are already looking forward to next year’s awards,” Polli said.

The other members of the Curb Appeal Subcommittee are Charlie Burkhardt, chairman of the CAN DO Community Relations Committee, and Nancy Stasko, CAN DO, Inc.
