Curb Appeal 2024 All WinnersCAN DO held its 17th annual Curb Appeal Awards on Tuesday, September 17, at the Residence Inn by Marriott in Hazle Township. The annual event, which has become a fixture for local industry, honors tenants across CAN DO’s business and industrial parks for their commitment to enhancing their properties through outstanding landscaping and grounds maintenance. Judged by Dr. Sherri Homanko and Jim Dino, the properties were evaluated on first impressions, landscaping appeal, safety and cleanliness, and overall creativity in maintaining and beautifying their spaces.

This year’s top honor, the Overall Winner across all four of CAN DO’s business & industrial parks, went to EAM-Mosca Corp., marking its seventh Curb Appeal Award. EAM-Mosca’s newly renovated facility within Valmont Industrial Park stood out for its immaculate landscaping, welcoming outdoor spaces, and overall attention to detail. The site, which features beautiful shrubbery, flower beds, and a rest area for employees, reflects the company’s ongoing dedication to creating a pristine and inviting environment. EAM-Mosca’s grounds are maintained by Michael’s Lawn Care Inc., and the award was accepted by EVP & Chief Financial Officer Jan Wessel and Operations Manager Chris VanBlargen.

Curb Appeal 2024 Overall Winner“We really appreciate the recognition because we did this for our team,” Wessel said, adding they purchased the building to accommodate the company’s growth and aimed to spruce it up architecturally and through landscaping. “We took extra efforts to create a little hidden gem for ourselves and for our employees. We’re very proud of our grounds team for that, and we appreciate the recognition from the CAN DO Board.”

The Honorable Mention award was presented to Amapharm, LLC from the CAN DO Corporate Center. This award recognizes industries that prioritize property beautification despite not fitting within the framework of the traditional judging criteria. Amapharm was given this distinction for its commitment to beautification, incorporating creative landscaping elements that highlight the recently constructed facility. Landscaping is done by Huntzingers Landscaping Company, and the award was accepted by Plant and Quality Manager Jillian Lowery.

In addition to the top awards, honors were given to several businesses across CAN DO’s parks, based on company size and location. They include Humboldt Industrial Park, under 100 employees – Service Electric Cablevision Inc. with landscaping by Eddie’s Lawn and Landscaping LLC; Humboldt Industrial Park, 100-200 employees – Cargill Cocoa & Chocolate – Hazleton with landscaping by J & S Landscaping; Humboldt Industrial Park, over 200 employees – Michaels Distribution Center with landscaping by Y & E Landscaping; Humboldt Station – Burger King with landscaping by Walko Landscaping & Nursery; McAdoo Industrial Park – Capriotti’s Catering with landscaping by its in-house staff; CAN DO Corporate Center – Best Cigar Pub/Prices with landscaping by Steve’s Lawn Care & Landscaping; Valmont Industrial Park, under 100 employees – Johns Manville with landscaping by Kendal Lawn and Tree; and Valmont Industrial Park, over 100 employees – Henkel Corporation with landscaping by Nause Landscaping Company.

Companies like EAM Mosca Corp. exemplify this commitment, setting a high standard not only through their business operations but also in the care and attention they give to their grounds.
