State Representative Tarah Toohil, PPL Regional Affairs Director Alana Roberts and Pennsylvania CareerLink Luzerne County Administrator Christine Jensen were the featured speakers at the Humboldt Park Association meeting held Tuesday at McCann School of Business and Technology.
Toohil updated the audience on the latest news out of Harrisburg including where the legislature stands in its efforts to get a new state budget signed. She shared her thoughts on the effects the budget impasse is having on human services organizations and other entities that rely heavily on state funding for their operations.
CAN DO presented its eighth annual Curb Appeal Awards to its industrial park and corporate center tenants who have beautified and maintained the visual appeal of their properties.
The awards were presented to companies in the Humboldt, McAdoo and Valmont industrial parks, Humboldt Station and the CAN DO Corporate Center during an industry mixer held Sept. 17 at Residence Inn by Marriott in Humboldt Station.
The CAN DO Student Action Committee is seeking donations for an annual drive that sends items to military service members stationed overseas.
Committee members kicked off the 11th annual “Operation: CAN DO” campaign earlier this month when they sent letters to area schools and businesses requesting goods or monetary donations. The students will use the items to create care packages to send to servicemen and servicewomen with ties to the Hazleton area who will be stationed abroad for the holidays.
