Curb Appeal winnersCAN DO presented its eighth annual Curb Appeal Awards to its industrial park and corporate center tenants who have beautified and maintained the visual appeal of their properties.

The awards were presented to companies in the Humboldt, McAdoo and Valmont industrial parks, Humboldt Station and the CAN DO Corporate Center during an industry mixer held Sept. 17 at Residence Inn by Marriott in Humboldt Station.

“Northeastern Pennsylvania is known for its beauty and the Curb Appeal Awards program gives us an opportunity every year to recognize those companies that made an effort to bring some of that beauty inside CAN DO’s parks and corporate center,” CAN DO President & CEO Kevin O’Donnell said.

O’Donnell thanked Curb Appeal Awards Committee co-chairs Lonnie Polli and Gary Danish, saying, “Lonnie and Gary work hard to make this program a success each year. I appreciate their dedication to helping this wonderful event continue.”

Polli said, “Many of our companies pride themselves on being active members of the local community and the energy, effort and expense they put forth in maintaining vibrant properties is a direct extension of that commitment to the Hazleton area.”

The Curb Appeal Award plaques were presented in the Companies with 1-to-75-employees, Companies with more-than-75-employees, Commercial Service and Commercial – Hotels, Restaurants, Retail categories.

Recipients in the 1-to-75-employee category are: Coveris, Humboldt Industrial Park; Atlantic Packaging, Valmont Industrial Park; JPC Equestrian, CAN DO Corporate Center; and High Mountain Hardware, McAdoo Industrial Park.

Recipients in the more-than-75-employee category are: Quad Graphics, Humboldt Industrial Park; Michaels Distribution Center, Humboldt Industrial Park West; U.S. Cold Storage, Humboldt Industrial Park North; and Silgan, Valmont Industrial Park.

The Commercial Service Award recipient is the IUPAT District Council 21 Painters Union in the CAN DO Corporate Center, and the winner in the Commercial – Hotels, Restaurants, Retail category is Burger King in Humboldt Station.

Quad Graphics was named the overall winner, receiving the top award in the program.

Committee members encouraged companies in CAN DO’s industrial parks to begin reviewing their facility’s curb appeal in advance of next year’s awards.

The other members of the Curb Appeal Mixer Planning Committee are: Dorothy Anderson, Charlie Burkhardt, Elaine Judd, Catherine Sachs and Nancy Stasko, all members of the CAN DO Community Relations Committee.
