Ingram Micro has established a significant presence in the Greater Hazleton Area as a leader in technology distribution and logistics, operating from a 475,000-square-foot facility that supports the movement of hardware, software, and platform solutions for businesses worldwide.
Founded more than 45 years ago and publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange, Ingram Micro serves customers in more than 200 countries and generates approximately $48 billion in annual revenue. The company’s Hazleton facility in Humboldt Industrial Park, which has been in operation for four years, plays a critical role in supporting its global distribution network.
“Hazleton gives us the ability to serve major markets efficiently while continuing to grow our operations and invest in our workforce,” said Director of Operations Juan Velez.
The decision to locate in the Greater Hazleton Area was driven by several key factors, including proximity to major Northeast markets, direct access to Interstates 80 and 81, and the availability of a strong and reliable workforce. These advantages continue to position the region as an attractive location for companies operating at national and international scale.
At the Hazleton site, Ingram Micro manages a full distribution lifecycle, including inbound receiving, putaway, picking, packing, and shipping. The facility is supported by advanced operational systems such as automated storage and retrieval systems, automated cartonization, conveyor technology, and integrated artificial intelligence and machine learning tools, all of which contribute to efficiency, accuracy, and speed across operations.
As operations have advanced, the company has continued to invest in both process efficiency and workforce alignment to support sustained performance.
“We are process-oriented and people-focused, which allows both our culture and our operations to succeed together,” Velez said.
The scale of operations has translated into consistent employment opportunities across a range of roles, from entry-level positions to technical and leadership roles within the facility. Ingram Micro places a strong emphasis on internal mobility, supported by structured training and cross-functional experience.
“We spend most of our life at work, so we want to make the environment fun and enjoyable for the associates. In doing so, we’re also driving to meet our company goals and objectives,” Operations Manager Erik Entrikin said.
Workforce composition at the Hazleton facility reflects a broad mix of backgrounds and experiences, contributing to day-to-day operations and long-term performance.
“We have a great team here. It’s a very diverse team,” Velez said. “We have people from almost 10 different countries. The more diversity we have, the more creativity we have, because everybody brings their own different ideas.”
This environment prioritizes employee experience and support across all levels of the organization.
“Our company culture is rooted in empathy,” Senior Associate Luz Moya said. “We work in an environment where employees feel supported, and I would tell anyone considering Ingram Micro that this is a place where you can feel part of a larger team.”
As automation and system integration continue to expand, the nature of work within the facility is also evolving, creating demand for new skill sets.
“With the level of automation and advanced systems in place, there is a growing need for upskilled employees who can manage technology, processes, and complex operations,” Velez said.
Operational structure within the facility allows employees to move across functions and develop experience in multiple areas over time.
“We have seen employees advance from hourly roles into leadership positions, including individuals who began on the warehouse floor and now serve in executive roles,” Entrikin said. “Those opportunities exist for individuals who want to build a long-term career.”
For many employees, that opportunity is part of what defines the workplace experience.
“I could say that for those who want to come to Ingram Micro, the doors are open here,” Moya said. “This is a unique environment, and we are here to welcome people who want to grow.”
Beyond operations, Ingram Micro contributes to the local community through ongoing charitable initiatives, partnering with local organizations such as the Hazleton Integration Project and Ruth’s Place Women’s Shelter to support community-focused efforts led by its associates.
The company’s continued investment in both operations and workforce development reflects a broader trend across the Greater Hazleton Area, where logistics and technology companies are creating accessible entry points for employment while offering opportunities for long-term career growth.
Through Hazleton Works, these efforts highlight the range of career pathways available within logistics, distribution, and technology-driven industries in the Greater Hazleton Area.
