Romark green awardsRomark Logistics, a third-party logistics company with several facilities in the Humboldt Industrial Park, recently announced that it received recognition as a top green provider and third-party logistics provider from two national publications for its nationwide sustainability efforts and supply chain and logistic services.

Food Logistics magazine, a semi-monthly periodical exclusively dedicated to covering the food and beverage supply chain, named Romark a Top Green Provider and 3PL and Cold Storage Provider for 2021. The awards recognize companies whose products, services or exemplary leadership are enhancing sustainability within the cold food and beverage industry across the globe and who have demonstrated agility, resiliency, and innovation despite the challenge of continued supply chain disruptions during the COVID-19 pandemic. This is the third consecutive year that Romark was named a Top Green Provider and fourth year in a row it was named a Top 3PL and Cold Storage Provider by the publication.

Romark Awards 1Additionally, the team at Inbound Logistics magazine named Romark as a Green Supply Chain Partner and Top 100 3PL for 2021. These awards are an editor's choice list of companies that go above and beyond to ensure their global supply chains are sustainable, their operations are socially and environmentally friendly, and they offer solutions that help their customers achieve their goals and meet their supply chain and logistic challenges.

Ryan Ziegler, Director of Facilities and Sustainability Management at Romark, said, “We consider our 'green' approach as a core commitment that benefits our employees, our customers, and the communities we serve. Every Romark team member is considered a company champion of our sustainability program. We are already 90% landfill-free across our facilities, and we are working toward a zero-carbon footprint goal.”

Romark's green initiatives include a two megawatt rooftop solar array at its Greater Hazleton facility that has 8,512 solar panels. Ziegler said the system replaces up to 40 percent of the company's annual energy system alone.

In addition to the rooftop solar array, Romark's additional company-wide sustainability initiatives include: upgrades to LED lighting, water conservation equipment, cooling tower upgrades, refrigeration changes, high-efficient battery charger upgrades, HVAC enhancements and improved energy efficiency within material handling equipment.

“While navigating through the pandemic, we continued to provide solutions to our customers and successfully implemented several facility and operational transitions and start-up operations, Ziegler said. “We are honored to be recognized once again for our efforts by these national publications.”
