Curb Appeal Awards Judging webTo mark the 15th anniversary of its Curb Appeal Awards, CAN DO is revising the awards categories and adding new judging criteria to the competition.

The Curb Appeal Awards are presented each fall to tenants across CAN DO's five business and industrial parks who dedicate time and attention to beautifying their properties through landscaping and grounds maintenance.

Curb Appeal judges Sherri Homanko, PHARM D., Keri Nork, and James Dino will be circulating the parks to evaluate facilities beginning in July. In addition to being judged on First Impressions, Landscaping & Appeal, and Safety & Cleanliness, the new category of Creativity was added this year.

Three winners will be honored throughout Humboldt Industrial Park - for companies with under 100 employees, 100-200 employees, and 200+ employees, and two winners will be selected from Valmont Industrial Park - for companies with under 150 employees and over 150 employees. One award winner will also be recognized from McAdoo Industrial Park, the CAN DO Corporate Center and Humboldt Station. In addition to selecting an overall award winner from all parks, one company will also receive the new ‘Most Creative’ award.

Winners will be announced during an industry mixer at the Residence Inn by Marriott in Humboldt Station later this fall.

“The Curb Appeal Awards benefit the Greater Hazleton community in so many ways. As a longtime awards judge, it's been rewarding to see the overall sense of pride these businesses take in beautifying their surroundings. This attracts new companies to the area who are seeking an immaculate location for their own businesses and it also makes employees even more excited to come to work every day.” Homanko said.

In addition to these categorical and criterial changes, companies will now be eligible to win multiple years in a row. Curb Appeal judges hope that this change in eligibility will encourage friendly and spirited competition throughout the parks.
