(August 21, 2014) – American Eagle Outfitters, Inc. announced the grand opening of its new distribution center located in CAN DO's Humboldt Industrial Park in Hazle Township, Pennsylvania. The state-of-the-art, one million square foot facility was designed and built with best-in-class capabilities to support the Company’s omni-channel transformation and growth strategy.

This is the largest single facility in the history of CAN DO and joins many other world-class firms that are located within the park.

“We are extremely excited to open our new distribution center, which enables us to effectively compete in a global omni-channel environment. This new facility positions us to manage our inventory seamlessly across all sales channels and significantly reduces the amount of time it takes for our customers to receive their orders” said Michael Rempell, Chief Operating Officer of American Eagle Outfitters.

New features at the center include material handling equipment that provides enhanced speed, expanded software and technological capabilities, and a LEED-certified building design to further support the American Eagle Outfitters' efforts to reduce and eliminate negative impacts to the environment.

"We are building a stronger Pennsylvania where homegrown companies like American Eagle Outfitters continue to be drivers of our economic engine and cornerstones of our communities," said Governor Tom Corbett. "With a renewed business climate and strategic investments in education, our workforce and our infrastructure, we're announcing to the world that Pennsylvania is built to advance."

Today, to help celebrate the grand opening, American Eagle Outfitters’ Board of Directors, executives, associates and their families, alongside State Representative Tarah Toohil, Hazle Township Chairman Bill Gallagher, Hazleton Mayor Joseph Yanuzzi, and other local government officials, will take part in a special ribbon cutting ceremony and tour the new facility. American Eagle Outfitters will also be awarding $5,000 grants to community organizations, including Hazleton YMCA and YWCA, Leadership Hazleton, United Way of Greater Hazleton, and Greater Hazleton Rails to Trails.

Headquartered and operating in Pennsylvania for 36 years, American Eagle Outfitters plans to hire 100 full-time employees, 400 seasonal employees and have more than 600 associates working at the distribution center when it is at full operation.
